Stem cell therapy uses cells extracted from your pet’s body to dispose of damaged cells, replacing them with new ones. This treatment is used to combat a number of issues, injuries and diseases.
The advantages of stem cells have been praised by scientists and doctors for decades as a potential treatment option to combat a number of issues and diseases. Veterinary stem cell therapy is particularly useful in treating osteoarthritis in cats and dogs, but is also used in healing ligament, bone, and spinal cord injuries as well as treating kidney and liver disease. Stem cells are collected from your pet and then injected into the affected area of the body, working to replace damaged cells with fresh and healthy ones.
Stem cell therapy has a number of benefits for animals, the first and most obvious, is that it can reduce discomfort for your pet and restore their quality of life. Stem cell therapy uses cells extracted directly from your pet, which greatly reduces the risk of their body having a reaction or rejecting the treatment altogether.
If your pet is dealing with discomfort related to any of the following issues, then stem cell therapy should be considered:
-Spinal cord injury
-Inflammatory diseases of the skin and gut
Please collaborate with your local veterinarian in order to determine if stem cell therapy is the right choice for your pet.
Once the condition of your pet has been properly assessed, stem cell therapy may be recommended by one of our veterinarians. Your pet will be put under anesthesia so that our veterinarians can collect fat cells taken generally from the groin or shoulder region. Once the fat cells have been collected, they will be taken to the laboratory for stem cells to be obtained and concentrated. Finally, the stem cells are carefully injected into the affected part of your pet’s body to begin the path towards recovery.
