Today we will meet Sawyer.

Sawyer was hit by a car and has a badly broken leg... Can you see it?

A comminuted fracture is when a bone gets broken into multiple pieces.

Sawyer's fracture is also malaligned, meaning the edges of the bone don't line up properly

It looks like Sawyer is in a lot of trouble!

Dr. Birchard took Sawyer to the operating room, and with some orthopedic screws, plates and a little wire...

Sawyer is now able to walk, and his bones can now heal properly.
