X-ray of the Month

Did you miss an interesting radiographic case? Not to worry!

It's in THE ARCHIVES

Step right up!

Today the surgical magicians at Camboro have a very special performance just for you. They call this trick an open nephrolithectomy!

First, I direct your attention to the Digitized X-ray below. Please note the large white kidney stone (and numerous smaller ones) as indicated by the blue arrow. If you have ever known someone with a kidney stone, you know that they cause not only debilitating pain, but can lead to severe infection and even kidney failure.

A little anaesethic, a pair of capable hands and an excellent team...

stones postop

Voila!

The stones have disappeared! So have the pain and risk of infection.

The question remains, Where are the stones now?

Wow! Over 15 stones removed! I don't think that Fido would let us make them reappear, so that ends our case (trick) for today!
