Staff in the Spotlight: What role do you fill in the Camboro Family?

Suzy: Kennel Supervisor

SIS: Why did you want to join the Camboro family?

Suzy: This is actually my 19th year here. Just before I worked here, when I had just moved up here actually, I had a horse that came down with Shipping fever. One of my neighbors recommended Camboro. I was amazed, they came out right away. It was [Dr. Orozco] actually. He was so nice and so personable I thought "Hey, I would love to work for someone like that". When I was ready to work part-time (about five years later), I applied and was interviewed by [Dr. Rummel]. Actually *laughing*, I wasn't hired initially, he hired someone else. But I kept trying, two years I kept trying, and calling to update, and eventually I was called for another interview, but the person leaving decided they didn't want to leave (a receptionist). They called me in anyway for the kennel position, and it was perfect. And I have been doing it ever since. Kim actually was the one who hired me.

SIS: Thatis a great story! That's great. Do you have any of your own furry family members?

Suzy: I do actually. I have a cat. Claddagh. Now anybody with any Irish in them should know that "Claddagh" is the ring with the hands, heart, and crown. The hands are for friendship, the heart is for love, and the crown is for loyalty. I guess I see those in my cat. He has a good name. I got her after my first trip to Ireland.

SIS: What is your most memorable moment about being part of the Camboro Family?

Suzy: Wow, there are so many. A lot of them probably have to do with my employers, because I really do enjoy the people I work with. I mean, I've had other jobs where I really disliked the work, and sometimes the people I worked for. I consider myself very lucky to work for who I work for. I suppose my most memorable moments center around that. I think the most memorable moment was when I was made employee of the year. I mean, that just blew me away. I was thrilled that they liked the quality of my work. Also the animals that come in all broken up (hit by cars and such) and you "will" them back to health. And then the patients walk out and it is so fulfilling. So many things that are so rewarding.

SIS: Great Interview! Thank you for your time.
